In “The Labyrinth of Passions”, Andrianomearisoa proposes a beautiful reflection on the opposition between blinding light and total darkness. Seemingly opposite, in reality these two contrasting phenomena obtain from the same physical and optical forces. The contemplation of this piece immerses us in emotions like passion, love, sadness, and nostalgia. But as the artist has stated, the work is “not a melancholy meditation on love and loss, but a powerful recognition of the possibility of staying alive amid cruel and brutal forces.
