Quintero began his career as an artist during his 10-year prison sentence, by the hand of Haru Wells, a woman determined in demonstrating that art is an effective substitute for crime. Wells taught art to Jhafis, who found in this discipline a natural way to nourish and re-channel the appetite for transgression that led him to crime, and to find a way to be himself without harming others.
Quintero has been widely exhibited in countries like Argentina, Costa Rica, USA, Switzerland, Panama, Italy, Brazil, France and the Netherlands, among others. In the years 2010-2011 Quintero made the prestigious artist residency Rijksakademie van Kunsten in Beeldende, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
In 2013 he participated in the 55th Venice Biennale with a video and a performance made during the opening days of 'The Atlas of Impero' Italo-Latin American Institute Pavilion.
His work is part of acclaimed private collections as the Cisneros Collection, DAROS Collection, Borusan Contemporary Art Collection or VideoInsight Foundation and public collections such as the MACBA, Spain; MUSAC, Spain; Museu Dragao do Mar, Brazil; Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, Costa Rica and El Museo del Barrio, New York, USA.
