In this pictures, a compilation of the costumes Avedissian created in 1993. The author dyed cotton fabrics employing the same techniques used to make the textiles that decorate nomad tents in the desert or to compose Japanese kimonos. His textile works are not a mere reproduction of elements found in popular traditions or geometric compositions but quite the opposite, thanks to the in-depth understanding of his artistic practice, his works can be understood and read as an affirmation of his an own Egyptian identity as well as the uniqueness coming from a collective and universal heritage, that goes beyond all borders: an Eastern identity standing up to Western supremacy
